Mother's Day Gift Guide

I think it’s safe to say that Mother’s Day this year is going to be looking a little different than usual, and for a lot of us, the things we’d usually like to do or gift may not be as much of a viable option given the world’s state of affairs. Personally, something I love doing is taking the mother figures in my life to our favourite beauty bar & paying for all of us to get a pedicure together, but of course, we aren’t able to do that this year, so I’ve had to come up with some different options for Mother’s Day gifts this year. I’ve compiled my list of potential gifts for you to give to your moms this year, and I want to share these ideas with all of you to maybe give you some new ideas that you may not have thought of!

Spa Gift Card

Like I mentioned above, I would normally take the moms in my life to our favourite beauty bar, The Ten Spot, and I’d pay for all of us to get to a pedicure together. Obviously, due to the global pandemic, we aren’t able to go do this right now, but purchasing an e-gift card for your favourite local spa to use when life gets a little more back to normal not only gives you and your mom something to look forward to in the future, but you’re also supporting a local business by turning that lost income, into delayed income. I know I can’t wait to get back to my local Ten Spot and see my go-to girls there!

Symbolic Jewellery

One of my favourite pieces of jewelry in my collection is my Jillian Harris x Melanie Auld Adorned Necklace because well… it’s Jillian Harris, lol, but it’s also a personal piece to me. I’ve got my initial, my boyfriend’s initial & a little heart, but there’s so many charms to choose from when creating your necklace. This is a great gift for anyone given that it’s completely customizable, and comes in three finishes: sterling silver, gold vermeil & 14k gold, so there’s a price point for everyone.

Handmade Gifts

This isn’t going to be a go-to choice for everyone, but if you’re feeling bored & creative, a handmade gift will never not be loved by your mom, or mom figure. A quick search on Pinterest will bring up tons of options to make simple handmade gifts depending on what your mom loves, and with more stores doing curbside pick-up, getting the supplies shouldn’t be too difficult to get your hands on.

A Self-Care Basket

We all know that moms are amazing, and especially given the current situation of constantly being at home, taking care of their families, cooking, cleaning, shopping and continuing to work, creating a self-care basket is definitely an easy gift that I’m sure will be much appreciated by so many moms. Some ideas of things to include in your self-care basket for mom include: scented bath salts, a candle, nail polish + a nail kit, essential oils, hair items like clips & scrunchies, a jade roller, face masks, a bottle of wine (or their favourite drink, alcoholic or not!), or lotion.

Tickets to a Workshop

For those moms who aren’t necessarily looking for relaxation and rest with a self-care basket, and they’re more like someone who loves to be learning new skills all the time, a ticket to a virtual workshop on a skill that they always wanted to learn would be a great option. It doesn’t even necessarily need to be a one-time workshop, but paying for a subscription to a learning service like Skillshare where you can constantly learn new things would work too!

Personalized Framed Family Photo

This idea comes from a Christmas gift that I actually gave to my boyfriend’s parents last year of their family dog. You really can’t go wrong with getting a photo of your family, or you & your mom, getting a beautiful frame and having it engraved with a sweet sentiment, or even just the family name. Engraving can be pricey though, so if this isn’t in your budget, just getting a nice photo and framing it would also make a beautiful Mother’s Day present.

A Bouquet of Local Flowers

Lastly, but of course not least, you can’t go wrong with getting your mom a bouquet of flowers with a personalized card to show her how much you love & care for her. If you have the budget, I highly encourage you to purchase the flowers from a local florist for contactless-delivery as this not only will be a better quality floral arrangement, but it also helps to support another small business in your area, all while giving your mom(s) a beautiful gift.

As much as I love going for pedicures with the moms in my life, I’m really looking forward to gifting them something great this year because, well, we could all use a little uplifting right now. Any thoughts on what you’re going to be gifting your mom(s)/mom-figures this Mother’s Day? Let me know in the comments, and come back next week for a new post, XO.
